The Peer Recovery Specialist will provide case management support on a part time basis to clients in the Problem Gambling Program in Norwalk, Stamford, and Bridgeport. The ultimate goal of case management is to assist an individual in such a way that it facilitates and promotes self-sufficiency. Part time; non-exempt.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides peer support, financial recovery counseling and case management to promote recovery from problem gambling
- Provides introduction to and assists with adjustment to Gamblers Anonymous/Gam-Anon programs and other community supports. Assists clients with the voluntary self-exclusion process.
- Assists in professional training, outreach and public education services as assigned. This may include appearing at professional conferences, workshops and training for behavioral health agencies and organizations.
- Documentation of clinical activities in client record as required.
- Assists Program Manager and clinical staff as directed.
- Attends training pertinent to the position, unit and CTR as a whole.
- Demonstrates a continued development of knowledge and understanding about the history, traditions, values, family systems and artistic expression of groups served as well as uses appropriate methodological approaches, skills and techniques that reflect an understanding of culture.
- Regulatory And Corporate Compliance Responsibilities a. Understands and adheres to CTR compliance standards as they appear in the CTR's agency's policies/procedures etc. b. Completes all training in a timely manner as required by state and federal regulations and specific to the department and position.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Travel time.
Supervised By: Program Manager of Problem-Gambling Services.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of High School degree or equivalent. An Associates Degree/or working towards and Associates degree in Human Services related field is preferred.
- Experience working with and/or working knowledge of clients in recovery.
- Experience in engaging and working with clinical personnel.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and able to prepare own correspondence and other materials.
- Must be proficient with computers
